SUBMISSIONS DETAILS & GUIDELINES


A) Peer-reviewed Research Papers:

Submit to Re/calibration: on imprecision and infidelity | PAPERS for the ACADIA 2018 Conference

Full Papers: 4,000 words max (Presentations ± 15 mins)
Full Papers describe work that is embedded within significant bodies of research or creative practice. A full paper is categorized by research-based projects, design processes, and/or novel techniques and methods which contribute to the advancement of the field of computational design. Papers must be concise and follow the structure of a scientific paper providing: Abstract, Introduction, Background, Methods, Results and Reflection, and Conclusion. Full papers must emphasize the significance of the work and its historical, scientific, and/or theoretical context. Full papers may also be entirely historical or theoretical in nature.

Full Papers should be no longer than 4,000 words, excluding the abstract, captions and endnotes. Low-resolution images and captions should be embedded in the paper. Please omit all identifying names, places, programs, institutions and firms from the paper to maintain an anonymous review process. Full papers will be published in the Proceedings and will be made available on CuminCad, ScholarOne, and other scholarly platforms.

Work in Progress Papers: 2000 words max (Presentations ± 7 mins)
Work in Progress Papers describe developing work or an individual project which has yet to be placed within a larger context of ongoing research. A short paper is categorized by a novel project, method and/or design approach which has the potential to contribute to the advancement of the field of computational design. Papers should adhere to the following structure: Introduction (including brief description of background and precedents), Methods, Results, and Conclusion (including a reflection upon future development and potential contribution to the field).

Work in Progress Papers should be no longer than 2,000 words, excluding the abstract, captions and endnotes. Low-resolution images and captions should be embedded in the paper. Please omit all identifying names, places, programs, institutions and firms from the paper to maintain an anonymous review process. Work In Progress papers will be published in the Proceedings.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR PAPER SUBMISSIONS:
Paper Submission Deadline: May 01, 2018, 11:59 PM PST
Papers should utilize the Word document provided, be saved as a PDF, and submitted via the conference submission website.
Notification of Authors, June 1 , 2018.

Revision Submission Deadline: July 1, 2018
If the paper is accepted, the author will be asked to make revisions based on the blind review comments and to reformat according to the ACADIA 2018 template for publishing.
Conference Registration Deadline for Authors: July 1, 2018


B) Jury Selected Projects:

Submit to Re/calibration: on imprecision and infidelity | PROJECTS for the ACADIA 2018 Conference

The ACADIA 2018 exhibition will highlight experimental projects and design work in which methods, processes, and techniques have been developed or discovered that illuminate the conference theme. Project submissions will be selected by a jury to be exhibited during the conference, and will be published in a full color catalogue. The technical chairs may additionally select certain projects to be presented as a short presentation (+/- 7mins) during the conference sessions. This is a digital competition and no hard-copy proposals will be accepted.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR PROJECT SUBMISSIONS:
Project Submission Deadline: May 15, 2018, 11:59PM PST
The project submission will consist of a title, a project description of no more than 600 words, plus a maximum of 20 images, formatted within a letter-sized or A4 document and submitted via the conference submission website as a single, multipage PDF. The text description should comprise the first page of the PDF and each image should be formatted to fit on a single page, oriented either horizontally or vertically. Captions are strongly encouraged as part of the image pages. Please omit all identifying names, places, programs, institutions and firms from the paper to maintain an anonymous review process.
If the project is accepted, the author will be asked to format the project for both publication in the Projects catalog, and exhibition at the conference.

Revision/Formatting Submission Deadline: July 1, 2018
